Dr Reyanta Bridgmohun

Biosketch:

Dr Reyanta Bridgmohun is a Consultant Psychiatrist and Lecturer with extensive experience in clinical psychiatry, academic teaching, and medical education. Currently serving as Head of Clinical Unit at Town Hill Hospital, Dr Bridgmohun plays an integral role in both undergraduate and postgraduate psychiatric training.

Dr Bridgmohun obtained her Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from UKZN in 2007, thereafter completing her Diploma in Mental Health in 2011 and Fellowship of the College of Psychiatrists in 2015 from the College of Medicine South Africa. In 2015 she obtained her Masters in Psychiatry from the University of Witwatersrand.

In addition to clinical and teaching responsibilities, Dr Bridgmohun is an active research supervisor, guiding medical students and residents in psychiatric research with a focus on women’s mental health and community mental health.

As a committed academic, Dr Bridgmohun also serves as a member of the KwaZulu-Natal Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee, contributing to policy development and rational drug use within the institution. Furthermore, Dr Bridgmohun holds the position of intern curator, overseeing the clinical training and professional development of junior doctors during their internship rotations.

Dr Bridgmohun works closely with the mental health directorate as a member of their Technical Advisory Committee.

Community work and outreach is essential practice in mental health, Dr Bridgmohun sits on the executive board of Love to Live, a non-profit organisation in Pietermaritzburg. Dr Bridgmohun remains dedicated to advancing psychiatric care through a combination of evidence-based practice, mentorship, and academic leadership
